Over the last year, we heard from several teachers who utilize Google Classroom. MYcaert.com has implemented a Google Single-Sign-On, SSO, option for students. This is a secure authentication system that enables Google users to sign in with their Google account logins. Students will not have to remember their MYcaert.com logins and passwords. They will click the Google icon to log in. How To When you add students to your account, you have an option to select Google Enable. Once you click "Yes" in that column, you will add the student's Google e-mail address. This can be their personal Gmail account, or their Google education account. If students are already in your roster, you will select "Edit Students" underneath the "My Students" Tab. Click the student's name you wish to edit, and then you will have the option to enable the Google SSO. Special Student Note: When students login for the first time with this feature on a device they will have to click the Google G "Sign In" button. When returning to MYcaert.com, the browser will do a quick search to ensure they are logged in to their Google account. Perks The SSO will allow you to assign links to e-units and online assessments in Google Classroom. The students can click the links and be taken directly to those assignments. The SSO also removes inconvenient steps in assigning materials to students. Assessments and materials remain password protected, and you remain able to track student attainment via academic standards. Do you have a suggestion for MYcaert.com to consider? Please provide your feedback here to help us track helpful suggestions.

As a MyCAERT user, did you know that you had access to “tried and true” resources like worksheets, keys to worksheets, guided notes, labs, and hundreds of other resources in MyCommunity?! Teaching in Career and Technical Education, planning and preparing quality lessons and activities for multiple preps can be difficult. As a former agriculture teacher, I know I was relying heavily on what I heard "was the best" from other teachers, knowing adjustments would be made to the activity for my classroom. Resource sharing with teachers is one of the most valuable forms of professional development as a teacher, for themselves and for others. MyCAERT provides a resource sharing area, known as MyCommunity. MyCommunity was developed to provide teachers with a mechanism to share, and search for materials shared by other teachers, that would supplement the MyCAERT materials. These materials are aligned to lesson plans, for easy access, once a course outline is created. Starting, TODAY, we are hosting a special promotion if you upload an item in the next two weeks, and are attending 2016 National FFA Convention. If you upload any additional resource in MyCommunity Monday September 19- Sunday September 30, 2016 we will have a special item for you at our booth in Teacher’s World (Booth #1959). After you've uploaded the item, please do one of two things: 1) Head over to our Facebook page- and "Like" us while you're there because we like you, too- and post on our timeline the title of your resource, and in what Lesson Plan it can be found! OR 2) Email Kathy Novotney ([email protected]) and share the title of your resource, and in what Lesson Plan it can be found! We value your willingness to share your resource to other teachers! For directions on how to share, please see below! CAERT, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Kathy Novotney as Marketing Director. Kathy is a 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois in Agricultural Education and joins us from Illinois Agricultural Education State Staff. She is a former high school agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, and served four years as a Program Advisor for the Facilitating Coordination in Agricultural Education (FCAE) Project. As a Program Advisor, Novotney worked with over 120 high schools and nearly 150 teachers to expand and improve agriculture education in Illinois. During the last seven years, she has utilized MyCAERT in various capacities, including as a teacher and training both classroom and pre-service teachers. If you desire training for your teachers, please contact Kathy at [email protected]. She will make even the farthest of distances work via Skype and Google Hangouts. As a former classroom educator, Novotney is thrilled to be able serve teachers on a national scope! |
